This book has lots of great pictures of the famous sites in Rome. However it is filled with a lot of text that never refers to the pictures. It is very difficult to try to know if the text is talking about a specific picture or if the items in question even have a picture to correspond to it any where in the book. It reads more like what you might get from a tour guide showing you Rome with the expectation that you standing in front of what they are currently talking about. It also has a show more large fold out map of what Rome looked like when the Coliseum was in use.

Overall lots of good pictures and lots of good information but the book as a whole was very poorly organized in my opinion.

It was cute for what it was, very informative. Definitely some place on the map/radar of locations I'd like to see in the future. Expect more travel books as Escapes continues to send them to me.
No map.

Wait, no map? No map? There should really be a map. It's right there in the brutto-figlio-di-puttana-bastardo title! I'm so mad I could leave a horse's head in someone's bed right now.

A photographic souvenir for tourists in Rome, with colour pictures of Rome's most famous architecture, historical artifacts, archaeological remains and art, from ancient Roman times to renaissance and baroque art, to churches and the Vatican. Notes guide the visitor on walking tours and discuss the historical significance of buildings and art. Modern buildings and cultural sites are almost completely ignored. A pleasant souvenir for visitors to Rome, but not a very useful academic reference.
