In an often rambling and repetitive manner, Bard restates the case that Jews and Moslems cannot coexist anywhere in the world let alone in the Middle East. The historical evidence he presents is voluminous and facts undisputable although the truths may be selective truths given his unabashed biases. There is nothing new in those assertions.
In a nutshell, the book is depressive. The most critical point the author makes is that the conflict between the Jews and the Palestinians is not about show more land or politics. It is a religious conflict and theological arguments cannot be resolved by negotiation. But framing the problem as religious does little to advance the peace process. A religious war is not winnable by either side as long as one believer is left standing. By default, Bard suggests that a religious war is inevitable—the end game is apocalyptic with the Jews waiting for their messiah, the Moslems waiting for their final Caliph and the Christians waiting for the Second Coming. Other than survival, there is no incentive to avert the inevitable. show less

After reading this book, I am enlightened about the present situation between ISIS, radical Islam and the survival of Israel and those believing in other religions. However, I am also thoroughly depressed. Mitchell Bard has written a very informative book on the history of the establishment and rise of Islam and the role it will play in the future of the lives of nonbelievers like Christians and Jews etc. What can I say but things do not look good for anyone who is not a follower of Islam. show more "Death to the Infidels" explains that there is one underlying principal of Islam...to convert all the world to its religion and the first goal is to destroy Israel and eliminate all the Jews across the world. Next, to eliminate all other faiths.

Just like no one believed Hitler, the world is unwilling to listen to what they are being told by the Muslim Brotherhood, Hamas, Hezbollah and many other Muslim groups. They state outright that Martyrdom is their ticket to Paradise and they are not afraid of dying. On the contrary, whereas most people celebrate life, they celebrate death. The author provides the reader with many examples of terrorism by radical Muslims. He sights statistics for the present existence of Muslims in Europe and other countries and the future growth and dominance of this religion throughout the world. He explains that Islam is a patient religion and will achieve dominance over the next few decades.

Bard explains that the failure of policymakers to understand what is happening globally will lead to another situation starting WWIII and perhaps even the use of nuclear weapons by Iran or Saudi Arabia. Sadly, I don't think the author is an alarmist. His examples provide support for action to protect democracy around the world to allow for freedom of religion, freedom of speech and certainly women's rights of self-determination which are clearly nonexistent in Islam.

This is an important book to read. It is one that will call you to take action to protect the very ideals you believe in and your way of life. Read it, buy it for a friend and provide a copy for your local library!

Of the 50 or so books I enjoy annually, this is clearly the most important book I’ve read in the past few years. "Death to the Infidels" is a real eye-opener. And just to put that in perspective, I’d love to provide you with 3 or 4 pages of quotes from the book. But for practicality you will have to settle for just a few as I attempt to convey in my own words the substance of "Death to the Infidels".

First of all, Bard - an expert on Islam and middle-Eastern affairs - makes crystal clear show more that the radical Islamists pose a threat to almost every living being. Their number one objective at the moment is to annihilate all people of Jewish descent, but that is merely a stepping stone to their longterm goal of controlling the world.

Second, the Palestinian territory dispute has almost nothing of substance to do with the Muslim hate and animosity towards the Jews. There is absolutely no agreeable peace settlement that can be reached because as far as the radical Muslims are concerned, the Jews have no right to exist… period.

Third, the radical Muslims thrive on hate. They not only hate Jews, Christians, and Americans… most of them hate each other. Between the Shiites, Sunnis, Fatah, Hamas, al-Qaeda, Muslim Brotherhood, Hezbollah and now ISIS… they each want to carve out their own powerful kingdom. In doing so, they vow to convert or kill anyone who does not follow their religion and specific group philosophy.

The information in this book is based on pure fact with all resources cited. Mitchell Bard does a thorough job explaining where the problems started, how the problems evolved, and where things are headed. He explains where each country in the Middle East stands and which radical groups they support. He explains the historical significance of the Israel vs. Palestine conflict going back to biblical days. He explains the Arab Spring, and the Islamic Winter.

I usually scatter my quotes throughout my review. For "Death to the Infidels" however, they are bunched together. The content is very disturbing - and just to clarify - the quotes I cite are often repeated from various sources: Arab text books, The Koran, Muslim sermons, The Arab media, prominent Arab leaders, and the Arab’s favorite propaganda book "Protocols of the Elder of Zion" (anti-Israel, anti-United States)

In the Qur’an and Sunna Muhammad said, “I was ordered to fight all men until they say, ‘There is no God but Allah’” (Pg. 10)

“In the Muslim community, the jihad is a religious duty because of the universalism of the Islamic mission and the obligation to convert everybody to Islam either by persuasion or by force” (Pg. 10) - from the Muslim historian Ibn Khaldun.

“The territory of Israel is incidental to the broader Islamic goal of achieving dominance over the entire world.” (Pg. 11) - from Islamic historian Daniel Pipes.

“No peace with Israel, No negotiations with Israel, no recognition of Israel.” (Pg. 60) - Arab leaders at a meeting in 1967.

The Muslim Brotherhood Motto: “God is our goal. Prophet is our leader. The Koran is our constitution. Jihad is our way. Death in the service to God is the loftiest of our wishes. God is great.” (Pg. 71)

The manifesto of Hezbollah is quoted as saying, “Our struggle will end only when this entity (Israel) is obliterated. We recognize no treaty, no cease fire, no peace agreements...” (Pg. 88)

The Gallup poll reports that only 7 percent of Muslims are truly radical. Consider, however, that 7 percent represents approximately 90 million Muslims.” (Pg. 159)

“The apes are the people of the Sabbath, the Jews. The swine are the unbelievers of Jesus’ table, the Christians” (Pg. 168) Islamic text book.

Osama bin Laden said, “The destruction of Israel is only a small part of the Islamic agenda. The grand plan is to reconstitute the glorious Islamic empire, so Israel is just an obstacle on the way to reconquest of Spain, the rest of Europe, and ultimately, the entire world.” (Pg. 243)

Egyptian cleric Muhammad Hussein Ya’qub said in 2009, “The Jews are infidels not because I say so but because Allah does... They aren’t our enemies because they occupy Palestine; they would be our enemies even if they had not occupied anything,” (Pg. 242)

A popular Muslim slogan, “First the Saturday people, then the Sunday people.” (Pg. 244)

Mitchell Bard points out that the battle is escalating, and as far as the radical Muslims are concerned, there is no turning back. Saudi Arabia spends 4 billion dollars a year to indoctrinate people into the Islamic faith. Iran is on the verge of producing their first nuclear weapon. Russia contributes weapons. In Syria they recently used chemical weapons on their own people. The Muslim Brotherhood is now involved in the drug cartels in Central America… training terrorists in Panama and Venezuela (and our southern borders are wide-open). Great Britain is now worried London is becoming a hub for the Muslim Brotherhood. Through the OIC (Organization of Islamic Cooperation), 57 Muslim countries have united to gain 30% of the overall vote and thus influence in the United Nations. And anti-semitism, hate crimes, and terror attacks are all on the rise.

The western world is under the false assumption that the entire Muslim conflict revolves around the Palestine-Israeli conflict. Most westerners do not want to believe that the Muslims are already committed to fighting a war over religion and seek world domination. It just doesn’t sound politically correct, so it can’t be true. Look at the facts. It is true!

And for those who harbor sympathy for the Muslims or have anti-semitic thoughts, please consider this. “Once Arafat gained control over the lives of most Palestinians in the territories, he denied them basic rights including freedom of speech, freedom of the press, and freedom of assembly, and he did not recognize the rights of women or gays.” (Pg. 219)

“The Muslims do not believe in democracy. Democracy means “rule of the people, by the people, for the people and the granting of basic rights to citizens such as freedom of speech, religion and assembly; press freedom, women’s rights, and gay rights. The only country in the Middle East where all those rights are protected is Israel.” (Pg. 245).

"Death to the Infidels" covers all this and so much more. And it is not written in a long, tedious, dry text-book format. It is 260 pages of concise, direct, and to-the-point information. I urge everyone to read this book. If you hope to have any understanding of the radical Muslim threat, you will be glad you did.

This book explains the evolution of the Arab-Israeli conflict from Biblical times ....to Mahmoud Abbas. The book points out historical misunderstandings in side-bars topped by a picture of a pharaoh wagging a finger and saying "Tut Tut!" It doles out trivia beneath a cartoon of a smiling sphinx. It contains subheadings such as, "Hello Haganah" and "Too Many Jews, Not Enough Space."

Mainstream, broad-based texts usually bend so much toward even-handedness that they end up offending partisans show more on both sides. What a surprise, then, that this Idiot's Guide is not so idiotic. An excellent guide to beginning to understand the Middle East. show less
