Finding Us: (A Christian Historical Romance Book Set in the Pacific Northwest) (Pictures of the Heart) by Tracie Peterson
I loved revisiting the 1909 Alaska-Yukon-Pacific Expo in Seattle and reconnecting with the wonderful Camera Girls in this second awesome installment of the Pictures of the Heart series. This story held me captive from the stormy beginning
to the satisfying ending. The plot moves at a fitting pace with several surprising twists and revelations. The well-crafted, compelling characters touched my heart except for one who was one of the most deranged villains I have ever encountered in all my show more reading! Amazing historical detail and vividly detailed descriptions immersed me in the setting and helped to visualize the events of the story. The double dose of romance is sweet and heartwarming. I greatly appreciate the strong faith thread that permeates the story. This is top-notch Christian Historical Romance, and I highly recommend it and the series. I look forward to reading the next book in the series.
I received a complimentary copy courtesy of Bethany House through Interviews & Reviews for my honest opinion. show less

Serving Up Love is a collection of four novellas about women who worked in the Harvey Houses that served customers and workers of the railroads out west. Each of the novellas is a stand-alone story and set in a different location and in different years.
For this historical fiction superfan, this series of novellas was perfection. I can honestly say I couldn’t pick a favorite. Each story was entirely different: some having danger, others mystery and plenty of romance!
In Tracie show more Peterson’s, A Flood of Love, I loved the unique history of the setting, especially the swimming horses. And I loved the heartbreaking history between Gretchen and Dirk as well as the hilarious antics of Katiann. What a doll! Gretchen had such an inspiring spirit of forgiveness, and Dirk’s persistence melted more than Gretchen’s heart!
I have been looking forward to reading More Than a Pretty Face by Karen Witemeyer since meeting Rosalind Kemp in More Than Words Can Say. Rosalind is haunted by regret and living in fear that her past mistakes will be revealed. Although she takes great pains not to be noticed, Caleb Durrington see her for the precious jewel she really is. I adored how Caleb loved her knowing she had untold secrets. And his unique wooing skills are adorable, especially to this nerdy girl!
I knew Intrigue a la Mode by Regina Jennings would be full of laugh out loud moments (careful not to wake your sleeping baby or disturb your co-workers), and I was correct. Despite the mystery and danger surrounding the Harvey House in Emporia, Kansas, there were plenty of light-hearted moments between Willow and Graham. I loved how Graham’s swagger was tempered by his gentleman-like qualities and by Willow’s no-nonsense attitude. They make quite the team (and the couple) as they search for potential smugglers.
I must admit this is my first time reading Jen Turano. I have her books on my TBR stack, but I haven’t had a chance to read them yet. But I’ll be catching up on the rest of her books soon because I absolutely loved A Grand Encounter! Jack is quite fetching (hehe), and I love the independence and outspoken nature of Myrtle. Plus, they are both book nerds, so we were all meant to be friends. Although their courtship might have been a bit awkward at times, and I might have laughed at Jack’s expense a few times, I enjoyed every minute of their story.
If you are a lover of Christian historical fiction, do not miss this collection of novellas. It is an interesting part of history, and each book gives you a unique perspective. Enjoy!
I was given a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. All opinions are my own. show less

A Truth Revealed: (A Christian Western Historical Romance Book) (The Heart of Cheyenne) by Tracie Peterson
Another amazing, inspirational romance in Tracie Peterson’s The Heart of Cheyenne series! I thoroughly enjoyed A Truth Revealed. The mystery, compelling reluctant to fall romance, & faith had me quickly turning the pages.
Laura Evans is excited to finally be with her father after being sent away after her mother’s death & years of boarding schools. Her reunion is bittersweet though when he isn’t the father she remembered. Though Granite Evans has accumulated wealth & prestige, he show more harbors dark secrets & still resents God for his wife’s death. The bright spots in her world are her new friends, especially the handsome Wilson Porter.
Wilson Porter is biding his time until his official call to work with the Shoshone people comes through. He’s invited his widowed mother & sister to come live in Cheyenne, but when tragedy strikes Wilson begins to question his faith. As his friendship with Laura begins to blossom to something more, he discovers some ugly truths which might destroy their romance.
This story was so hard to put down! Laura’s father is an absolute cad. He pretends to be a loving father, but his motivations are anything but pure. His drive for power & revenge have cankered his soul. I couldn’t wait for Laura to finally see the truth.
The romance between Laura & Wilson was so good. He’s a bit surly at first as a result of their disastrous second meeting & both are reluctant to fall in love. As they spend a lot of time together in close proximity, those walls they both have up begin to fall & I loved seeing their friendship grow to something more.
Faith plays a central role in this story. I appreciated the struggle Wilson goes through & the way both he & Laura handle loss. I also loved the support they receive from their friends.
Highly recommend to inspirational Christian fiction fans. Though it’s part of a series, it can easily be read as a standalone, but those familiar with the series will be happy to see recurring characters from previous books. I received an advanced complimentary copy from the publisher. All opinions are my own & voluntarily provided. show less

A Moment to Love: Christian Historical Romance Set in a Small Town on the Western Frontier of Wyoming (The Hope of Cheyenne) by Tracie Peterson
Hunting down a murderer, marriage of convenience, a brilliant FMC, & the road to forgiveness! I’ve long been a fan of Tracie Peterson’s historical romances & A Moment to Love is a new favorite. I loved the delicious tension a marriage of convenience brings coupled with a compelling story of revenge versus forgiveness. This stirring story kept me eagerly turning the pages with plenty of twists & turns along the way.
Dr. Carrie Vogel’s a brilliant doctor who’s study of the brain is show more groundbreaking, but when she finds out her fiancé has been taking credit for her work & threatens to damage her career if she exposes him, her world is shattered. When her friend & Pinkerton agent Spencer Duval needs to return to her hometown to track a killer, she agrees to enter into a marriage of convenience to provide him cover. Their marriage is in name only just until Spencer captures his man, but, Carrie underestimates how much she’ll come to love & care for him while she’s starting over in her career.
Spencer’s always admired Carrie & when he sees a chance to help her & pursue the criminal who murdered his father, he jumps at the chance. Promising to annul their marriage once the killer’s caught, his sole focus is on pursuing justice & vengeance, but as his feelings for Carrie grow, suddenly his need to avenge his father’s death becomes less important than making his marriage real.
I thoroughly enjoyed this story! Carrie’s intelligent, thoughtful, & compassionate. The knowledge of the brain during this time period was fascinating & I could feel her frustration at not being able to do more for her patients with the limited technology of the times. I enjoyed seeing her fall in love with Spencer & their cozy chats on the sofa. Loved seeing Spencer’s character growth & how supportive he is of Carrie. His single mindedness towards vengeance is replaced with his growing love for her & seeing his father’s killer in a new light.
There are plenty of twists in this story with humor & romance balanced perfectly with messages of forgiveness, faith, & family. I’ve loved the Hope of Cheyenne series & highly recommend it! I received an advanced copy from the publisher with no expectation of a positive review. All opinions are my own & provided voluntarily. show less
