Once Upon a Picture by Sally Swain

This book shows beautiful illustrations of famous artwork. They story tells the time the painting was drawn and who the artist was. The book also uses a simple story for the paintings. This book would be great to introduce famous artist to young children.

Absolutely brilliant pastiches of great artists, all depicting housewives in action ('Mrs Monet Cleans The Pool'; 'Mrs Gauguin Holds A Tupperware Party' and so on). Always makes me chuckle...
