I liked this time travel romance. Halfway in I wanted to peek at the ending but refrained and enjoyed it all the more. Renata had trouble sleeping so was hypnotized and found herself in the 1880's married to Nathan. It dealt with some serious issues and Nathan was such a lovable hero.
Set in Oklahoma Territory, Elizabeth's husband, an abusive gambler, sets off for town for provisions, leaving her out of food in their mud hut. She sets off with her rifle and a mule, and stumbles across a ranch. Newly widowed Brice needs someone to care for his newborn child, so he hires Elizabeth as the nanny/housekeeper. But when new settlers on a wagon train start a nearby town, they assume they're married - and they don't set them right.
The devastatingly handsome, tuxedo-clad stranger having breakfast in the Mountain View Cafe intrigued waitress Amaris Channing. She never expected to see him again, yet when he left behind his well-filled money clip, she knew she had to return it.
Blake Mayfield was completely mystified when Amaris showed up at this well-guarded Virginia mansion. How had she found him without knowing who he was and where he lived?
The Appalachian-bred waitress fascinated Blake more than the blase debutantes of show more his own set. He wanted to introdcue Amaris to caviar and champagne, to show how her how the other half loves.
But there is a side to Amaris that Blake didn't know, couldn't know. Nor did he know that by courting her, he was courting disaster. show less
