If you like singing like me, this is a fantastic Read Aloud, Contemporary Realistic Fiction, that could help you introduce an Opera. Excellent for predicting, since the text is repetitive, for synthesizing, and considering text structure. Jim Gill is a treasure. This silly book introduces opera (with the accompanying CD) in a dramatic and endearing way.

I only read this once for a 3rd grade class; they liked it OK--I can't tell if they were quiet because they are a quiet class, or if the maybe didn't like it as much as I thought they would. Will try it again maybe with a different class.
