A very quick, visual rundown of all crocodilians. Conservation numbers are beginning to get a bit dated, but overall still a good introductory crocodilian book.
National Audubon Society First Field Guide Reptiles (National Audubon Society First Field Guides) by John L. Behler
Very interesting. This books is divided into four sections: Sections one and two provide background information on reptiles and briefly discusses the variation within the 6,800+ species of reptiles. Section three is field guide portion. Section four, the reference section, tells readers where to find specific information in the book and good sources of extra information elsewhere. Specifically in section three, the format is consistent from page to page and illustrations include pictures, show more maps, and a margin of extra information (look-alikes, related species, and fun facts). The text of the book is clearly written and very interesting; it would be suitable to read-alouds or for individual reading. Younger students may have difficulty with some of the scientific names, but many enjoy the colorful pictures of the animals. show less
This book goes through the history and ins and outs of what makes a frog, a frog. It goes through the breathing and life cycle and how they get color and change from person to person. Perfect for lesson on amphibious creatures and if students is doing a report on frogs.
The National Audubon Society Field Guide to North American Reptiles and Amphibians by John L. Behler
This field guide has everything important to me; extensive coverage, good photos of each species, good range maps, well formated keyed accompanying text, and very durable binding
