Clear very modern-language (rather informal) translations of selected medieval Norse verse, often by major figures (Egil Skallagrimson, Harold Hardrada). Matched with illustrations --one short poem and one llustration per page, so there are not a lot of poems overall. A very pretty and enjoyable book, not intended as deep scholarship.
