I read this book while hiking the Chilkoot Pass. While being informative, it was lalso poorly cited (as in no citation at all) and had very very poor photographs printing. That being said, it was a decent primer for looking into this period in Alaskan History, and I couldn't find any other easily available popular history books on the Chilkoot Pass. There is a limited "Further Reading" sections in the back but they seem to have been compiled in the 70's. I do not recommend this book for show more serious historians or even the lay reader as a source of historical accuracy. show less
I cannot comment on how good of a guide this is to the Chilkoot Trail of today, but it is an engaging introduction to the Chilkoot Pass and environs of the past. Lots of nice info on the Gold Rush history of the area.
Excellent specifications on every boat. The story of a disaster at sea or two, some sea lore and generally interesting.
Quintessential Pacific Northwest Coast silkscreen artist, good commentary, exquisite reproductions.
