The artist and craftsman Hundertwasser was born in Vienna in 1928 as Friedrich Stowasser.

Hundertwasser’s rejection of the rectangular in architecture is perhaps the most defining aspect of his work. Instead of straight lines, his buildings are characterized by curves and rich, hand-crafted ornamentation. Bright colors, spirals, and circles and a rejection of conventional forms and images make his work unforgettable.

This vividly illustrated compendium of Hundertwasser’s thoughts and works show more is a joy. His aesthetic is often likened to Antoni Gaudi, and this book will definitely appeal to fans of the latter if they aren’t already familiar with Hundertwasser. show less
A very interesting book about a sculptor that's little-known today. As an art novice, I especially liked the discussions of what to look for in the sculptures.
