A very special old text. A special page insert from Ginn and Company links their English curriculum to the war effort (World War II). All the exercises have a war slant ("Neither the captain or his noncoms (were, are) here."). All the photos are war-related. There is also information about sending V-Mail, vocabulary of the day, correlation of English and American history, and extra emphasis on patriotism, democracy, etc. A true gem - and a snapshot of life on the homefront.
A wonderful collection of English-language poetry, with translations also of American Indian poetry.
Fair condition. Cover and spine are worn and stained, Front hinge is weakening. Stickers and bookplates on front two pages Pages are moderately stained. Binding is still strong.
