Charles den Tex

Very good book.
Takes you step by step from the Dutch average regulated life to the world where violence is king, where women are sold tonpay off the (alledged) debts made for them, where money is oil between people of different origin.

It has been a while that I've read one of Den Tex's books, but with thus one he has firmly asked for a place on my reading map. Granted!

Ik had ooit een heel klein boekje van den Tex gelezen en dat stond me niet bij als bijzonder goed, maar dat is iets waarvan ik vind dat het heel veel voorkomt bij van dat soort korte verhalen, de schrijver komt er nooit helemaal tot zijn recht. Vandaar dat ik dit nieuwe boek zeker eens een kans wilde geven.

Het is een standaard Nederlands verhaal. Ten minste, ik heb het al vaker voorbij zien komen op tv en in boeken. Clue is een aanslag te show more voorkomen. Niet bijster origineel misschien maar de uitwerking kan het verschil helemaal maken.
Helaas vond ik dat de personages heel stereotyp werden neergezet. Een kleine greep uit het aanbod; Oost-Europeanen zijn criminelen, jonge vrouw is naief, durft haar moeder niet tegen te spreken, valt op verkeerde mannen en heeft twee sterke figuren nodig om haar te beschermen; politieman vereenzaamd van gezin; hacker die nauwelijks daglicht ziet. Het was allemaal iets wat ik al te vaak gezien had om het nog echt leuk te vinden.
Daarnaast las het boek zeker wel lekker en is het leuk vermaak voor zo tussendoor in de trein... show less

A gift book in the month of the thriller. A book written by an author I was already curious to read something from. That's because he won several prices for the best Dutch thriller.

I immediately liked the style of the book and the story is in some ways unexpected. From the beginning you know something will happen in the thight athmosphere of the family, but I didn't have an idea about what that would be. And at the end of the book you know exactly what happened, but do all the main show more characters really know what happened?

A nice thin book for a couple of hours in a sunny garden.

I liked this book, although was quite a bit like another book I read by his hand recently.
Suspect (innocent?) on the run, computers, trouble at the office, all the same ingredients.

I think I'll skip this author for a while, until memories of this and the earlier book fade :-)
