100 Ways to Understand Your Cat

I Picked Up This Book Because: I’m a new cat mom

The Story:

I felt like I’ve been reading this book for three months, not 23 days. While it gave some good information it was rather dry. Like textbook reading. I also don’t feel like I’ve learned much more than I have from speaking with other cat owners, the vet and groomer. I guess that means I have a good support system.
This is definitely one of the most interesting animal books that I have had a chance of tripping upon and reading. In this book you are a male deer at the end of the rut (mating series). Leading you group of does (mostly three, sometimes four) you have to make decisions that a deer most likely has to face each day while then seeing what your decisions have led you to such as whether you live to make another choice, that you live to end the day or if you are an unlucky casualty to the dangers show more of the deer world.

The pictures and/or illustrations are beautiful while helping you to immerse yourself into the book. In some parts of the book I enjoy just looking for the does to see what they are up to or where they are covered. Again the herd of does either seems to be three or on at least two pages including the very last page of the game four so there is an elusive female in the midst.

Another thing that I really enjoy with this book is the fact that fun little facts and trivia are kept in the book so you are learning while also playing. This is definitely a book I would recommend to those who are interested in books that allow you to make decisions or that allow you to have fun while learning. And I am hoping to eventually get the rest of the Survival series as well as this is the first one I have come across.

A game that puts you in the life of a red squirrel as you scamper around trying to find enough food to eat, being chased by bad animals that want to eat you or figuring out whether you want to fight or ignore that strange squirrel that has invaded your territory. What are you going to do to survive the day?

While making your decisions you get points that you can write down to raise or even lower your survival score and the chance to learn more about the red squirrel - what dangers does it show more face, what does it eat, how does it face its own and so much more.

Sadly my first time around I got ate by a weasel can you beat that and make it to the end of the day?

A game that allows you the chance to be a young red fox going around the survival of the day whether finding something to eat, laying around or playing with your sister. Do you have what it takes to make it back to the den so you can start your day all over again?

My main issue with this book is the fact that the fox is the one that has become the neighbor to the farmer and the constant pest of the same farmer plus a city-edge fox. It was in my hope the book would follow along in the steps show more of the deer one as a wild fox but that wasn't to be the case.

Generally you are given small trivia facts about the eating habits of the fox, the dangers and its family life as it makes it through each choice you choose. Points are given or taken away depending on the result of your decision. And you will have a chance to start over unlike my poor fox who was mutilated by a sneaky farm dog even though it escaped :(
