Honestly, I think I'm biased toward this libretto, because I've seen videos of it performed live and know many of the songs by heart. Without that(or even just access to the music), I don't think the full intensity of this musical could ever be truly felt. Despite the depth of lyrics and plot.
This was a great help when choreographing the musical. It gave me a lot of themes to base movement on.
Alice and her childhood friend, Alfred, escaped the London Bombings of WWII into the underground train tunnels. Before the war, they spent their time together telling one another their version of the Alice in Wonderland story. Alice being Alice and Alfred was of course the White Rabbit. Alice and Alfred coped with the war by becoming the characters in the story, but will they be able to finish their story before Alfred’s time runs out?

Definitely a must read for anyone who is a fan of the show. Great explanations of the lyrics and also gives other historical references that inspired Sater's writing.
