A treatise on acting - well, not really a treatise. It's a series of lecture notes and exercises that the author has used in his acting classes over the years. His style is breezy and accessible, but the exercises bring back bad memories of acting experiences where one feels like a fool standing on stage waving their arms and swaying. It's essentially Method acting, but trying to be more than Method. It's mostly about finding the internal meaning of the play (the intention) and figuring out show more how to feel it and act it at the same time. A quick read, not too much theory, and only of marginal interest to those involved in play writing - the level of interest of needing to understand what it is actors are going to do to your work. show less
