I like anthologies of scholarly papers on a subject because you can read a lot of interesting stuff without spending days in the library with the journals. This anthology certainly contains some interesting stuff. It also contains a number of "classic" articles in the field which are now almost entirely irrelevant to how anthropologists look at religion. These are not well-contextualized so it is not clear that they are no longer credited and why. Don't make this anthology your first foray show more into this topic. show less
