A collection of essays tracing the historical evolution of anti-Semitism. This is not a particularly in depth study, though it is scholarly; the essays are short and are intended to be read by a lay audience, so they are not jargon-laden or weighted down with quotations from ancient texts in the original language. Abundant footnotes direct the reader to where they can obtain this sort of information if they are interested in delving further. This work is just an introduction to the topic.
Rabbi Berger discusses in this book issues that are critical to Orthodox Judaism. Having attended several Chabad houses, I've never seen the picture of the Rebbe in the Beit Knesset itself, which I agree, would be a problem. Given that, Berger does present some points which are problems within the extreme elements within the movement. Though, as whole, Chabad has done a great job on Chesed and Kiruv within the jewish world, and a very machmir with regards to Halachah. This book needs to show more balanced against Chabad Rabbi Dalfin's response. show less
