This is a serviceable coffee table book with pretty pictures, but the text is just awful: poorly organized, written, and copy-edited.

The author is an academic with a background in Native American history, and he has significant experience writing and editing popular nonfiction, but either he has no talent as a popular writer or is phoning it in here.

Well written but lacks adequate detail regarding the early tribes that disappeared in the 15th century and makes no mention of the possible reasons other than disease introduced by the early arriving white men from the civilized world.

Well done. Limited data regarding Lower Connecticut River tribes.
