Dr Bailey shares what is expected of every man and woman at a time when there are so many competing interests and distractions. He has no sympathy with flights from reality and he shows us how we must be ruthless with ourselves, for the culture of the spiritual life demands a strict discipline.
A profound and searching work whose central thesis is that God is known to us not by argument, but by our being directly confronted with Him.
Beautiful language and prayers I want to pray, but a little shocking in its non-inclusive language -- what a difference in the way we speak, even to God, since 1949!
Baillie starts by explaining that each age needs its own apologetics and that the apologetics of a previous age doesn't work. Very true.
