For an old book, actually pretty interesting. The book describes how turtles live in their different habitats, and the curious adaptations of some of the different species. It shows how turtles breathe, and how their respiratory and digestive systems work. I was fascinated by the series of photos that show how a turtle embryo develops inside the egg. Little turtles are so cute! True, the book was lacking some facts that simply weren't known at the time, but it's still informative about these show more animals. The end cautions that habitat destruction and egg-taking are threatening the populations of many species and urges us to take better care so that turtles may survive in all their varieties.
