4.5. In terms of emotional impact, this book was devastating; it describes processes and events that we know occur, and so to some extent, to which we're desensitized. But with its keen and unsparing analyses, and presentation of practices, attitudes, and realities that are all too pervasive, it was difficult not to walk away from the book feeling simultaneously determined and helpless-- the latter surely not Goldberg's intent.
I was looking more for an analysis of racial neoliberalism than Goldberg provides. But the attempt to chart the work race does in different regions of the world is well done.
