The book is very good and in my opinion fairly easy to read if you Know a thing or two about engineering and costruction. All the pictures break up the bok nicely and further explains the writing of the book. The book provides a lot of info on a wide range of buildings fromanciant roads to modernd skyscrappers.

Building projects of scale and beauty, utility and art, hold an endless power to amaze and move us. Few choices given to us in a community are more important -- and few losses are greater when they are missed. First, "Overcoming Distance" -- sections on roads, canals, bridges, railroads, and pipelines. Then "Height and Depth" - towers, tunnels, skyscrapers.
