Veterans of Foreign Wars Edition Pictorial History of the Second World War 6 Volumes by Veterans of Foreign Wars
Considering that some of the volumes in this set were published before the War was over, there are a great many photos from the Axis side of the conflict. This is not for the squeamish as many of the photos of the dead and maimed. The maps are also first rate showing how battles developed and how campaigns progressed. A great series.
The World's Greatest Books (Twentieth Century Series, Being one publisher's selection of what might be considered the most popular literature published during the twentieth century) by Wm. H. Wise & Co. Inc.
A wonderful collection of great books! I just started reading a few of "abridged" selections and I must say that I absolutely love it! The purpose of the collection is to let people read classic great books which would otherwise not have time to read. Makes you appreciate the purpose of Reader's Digest Condensed Books (which I usually snub my nose at, publicly but secretly love reading them and I have a few that filtrated our bookcases by merely the hate to get rid of any books, even if they show more where given to you in a paper bag... I think it makes you want to go out and get the full version of the book if you like it and lets you feel like you have a decent grasp on a book you otherwise would not like. So far.. I love all of the versions I have read however, I have skipped over Mein Kampf by adolf hitler, due to lack of interest ... perhaps I will end the book with that one... I am in for a wealth of wonder with this book.. Not finished but loving it! show less
Wonderful book with details we miss in shorter works. I appreciate reading a book written almost concurrent with the events it covers.
Have read some not all, what i have is an excellent read
