Once upon a time I was dubbed the “Craft Queen” at Summer Day Camp, and even though I may not be much for actually doing handicrafts these days, I couldn’t resist picking up this cute little book. The patterns honestly look really super complicated, but the instructions seem like they would make sense if you actually had a vague idea how to embroider and stitch things (which obviously I don’t), so I hope that people who bought this book were actually able to complete their own flower show more fairies. I’m sure I wouldn’t have the patience to even try, but it was fun glancing through the techniques and trying to puzzle out how much time it would take to actually finish one of these embroidered crafts. show less
Like all of the books by Di van Niekerk it is informative and lovely. The book contains the basic instructions that her other books have and so can standalone. The book is full of helpful tips on stumpwork. This book is different from her others in that it uses different shaping techniques and cutting out rose shaped petals. The edges are treated with fray check and then shaped. She shows how to make several different types of roses. The down side to this book is that the pattern given is to show more large to print on fabric at home. show less
