It's a mystery to me, why only 16 members of this site have this book. These are Christmas card poems sent to friends over some 20 years and each is a little gem. Witty and deeply felt, they are a wonderful addition to the works of a deeply loved and sadly missed poet.
Many of these poems engage in conversation with art and other literature: there's one about experiencing a stay in France and medieval paintings, a couple about actors and plays, another reacting to Terry Eagleton's principles of literary criiticism.
U.A.Fanthorpe's poems are very thought provoking, especially those inspired by hospitals, illness, case histories.
A selection of Fanthorpe's early poems for fans and completists. Always interesting to see how an author's work develops over time.
