Interesting, written in 1938 so very fixated on the coming war - which everyone seemed to expect.
Dated, some cringingly unpleasant attitudes, a tremendous sense of MO's importance and a huge chip-on-the-shoulder about lack of recognition. But, despite that all an interesting and unique view into a time that is seminal, near and yet totally vanished.
How people and local governments variously did or did not cope with the Blitz. Based on contemporary sociological studies in the field which had been archived away for decades.
Captures the real experience of people in the war. Bet it beats the national blog that was done this year.
A great many books have been written about Borneo but none is quite as novel and arresting in its spontaneity as Borneo Jungle, the outcome of an expedition organized by Tom Harrison, under the auspices of the Oxford Exploration Club, which spent six months in the jungles of Borneo in 1932, making friends and doing scientific work.
