Jake Bible

The second book in the Zburbia series did not disappoint. Perfect blend of zombie action, drama and humor, (which is missing or downplayed in a lot of zbooks). All my favorite characters are back. I love how Elsbeth is developing. I find her to be a fascinating character. I am hoping to find out more about her in the next book. Stella has a new job and I'm sure Brenda is just going to lie down and let that happen without a whimper. That is going to be very interesting to watch unfold. Jace show more loses a part of himself but it wasn't his sense of humor. Another plot line that will be fascinating to read more about. The whole Ms Foster thing left me chilled. I wasn't expecting that. Book 2 was a fun, fast, scary thriller of a ride.

My recommendation is to read these books in the order they are written, do not get hung up on reality, (it is a zbook), and it is for mature readers. I would put it on the don't miss list for zombie lovers. show less

Let's be clear about this. This book is not just about the shark. Alten's books are about the shark and little else. Bible's book is about a lot more than that. In fact, I found all the other stuff in the book - the pirates, the Special Forces operators, the corporate intrigue, the characters - to be so much more important and interesting than the shark. The shark is in the book, and there is some sharky action, but this in no Alten clone. It's more than that. It's action and adventure and show more humor. It's Jake Bible kicking ass. show less

I found the monster fights really boring but other than that, I enjoyed the book. If it were a fanfic it would be tagged “crack treated seriously” but then it’s giant monsters coming out of the earth so there is a level of silly I just expect. I don’t like all the characters but I appreciate the distinctiveness of them. Entertaining (except for the monster fights).

I can't help it. I love the Mega series. How can you not love a series full of massive sharks, massive mutant dinosaurs and others animals and a team of misfit ex-military types? The action is fast, the dialog is snarky and the characters and damaged just like you and I. Its a cheap thrill ride of a book and I loved every minute of it.
