“Effective Communication in the Workforce” by The Open University is an insightful and practical guide that lives up to its title. The course is structured in a way that makes complex communication concepts easy to understand, even for those who are new to the subject. Each module is clearly organized, with examples and scenarios that reflect real workplace situations, making the content highly relatable and applicable.

One of the standout features is how the course focuses on practical show more skills that can be immediately implemented in professional settings. Topics like active listening, constructive feedback, and tailoring communication to different audiences are not only explained but also accompanied by exercises to reinforce learning. This hands-on approach ensures that learners are equipped to handle everyday challenges in the workplace, such as resolving conflicts or improving team collaboration.

The use of straightforward language and accessible examples makes the course suitable for a broad audience, from entry-level employees to managers looking to refine their skills. The inclusion of case studies adds depth and shows how the concepts work in practice, helping learners see the value of effective communication in achieving workplace goals.

However, there’s a slight downside that keeps this from being a full five-star experience. While the course is rich in content, it can feel somewhat rushed in places. A bit more depth or additional examples in certain areas, like handling difficult conversations, would have elevated the learning experience further.

Overall, this course is a fantastic resource for anyone looking to enhance their workplace communication skills. Its practical nature and clear delivery make it an excellent investment for personal and professional growth. I would highly recommend it to those seeking actionable strategies to communicate effectively in diverse work environments.

This 4-hour free course promises insights into fundraising roles and organizational relationships, but delivers only a surface-level overview. While it provides basic concepts in clear language, the content feels too brief and generic to be truly valuable.

The main issue is depth - important topics like stakeholder engagement and conflict resolution get mentioned but never properly explored. There are no case studies, practical examples, or modern perspectives on digital fundraising. The show more format is purely informational without any interactive elements to reinforce learning.

For absolute beginners in nonprofit work, this might serve as a quick introduction. However, anyone looking for actionable strategies or deeper understanding will need to supplement with more comprehensive resources.

2/5 stars - A free but forgettable primer that barely scratches the surface of relationship management in fundraising.

*Managing and Managing People* by Open University is a straightforward and practical book that offers useful insights for anyone stepping into a leadership role. It’s a quick read with clear explanations, making it easy to digest even for busy professionals.

**What I liked:**
- **Simple & Well-Structured** – The book breaks down management concepts into easy-to-understand sections.
- **Practical Tips** – Provides actionable advice on handling teams, communication, and common workplace show more challenges.
- **Beginner-Friendly** – Great for new managers, covering basics without overwhelming jargon.

**What could be better:**
- **Lacks Depth in Some Areas** – While it covers essentials, more advanced managers might want deeper strategies.
- **Could Use More Examples** – Real-life case studies would make the tips even more relatable.

Overall, it’s a helpful introduction to management with good takeaways. Recommended for those new to leading teams!

This is a very basic overview of a bit of psychology, focusing on some of the internal (e.g., our brain) and external (e.g., group pressure) factors that influence our behavior. It is an easy read, but doesn't seem particularly logical in its organization, and it has a few typos that indicate a lack of proofreading. Since it's from the Open University, it has a British focus as well, but that isn't much of an issue.
