What a disappointing book. I love the idea of colourscripts for animated films, but the way that the topic was presented did not do justice to the Pixar films at all. Having seen (and loved) the majority of films covered in this book I was very disappointed that I felt like I didn't recognize the films at all. Maybe the colour reproduction in the book isn't true to life, since I really hope that the designers didn't intend the films to hvae such dull and uninspiring colour palettes - show more thankfully in real life the filmsa re rife with colour and vibrancy! The one redeeming section of the book was the concept art, but a lot of this art is included in the "art of..." books for the individual films and it seemed like an afterthought to make the book a bit bigger... show less
I had very high expectations for this book, since I absolutely love Pixar's films, but this exploration of their short films was kind of underhwelming. The concept behind their foray into the tradition of short animated films (to accompany full-length features) is interesting in a historical sense, but the lackluster presentation of the subject didn't really capture my attention. The book as a whole could have used more concept art and stills from the films to really bring out the ideas show more discussed in the text, but for whatever reason they failed to capitalize on the image potential. show less
It took me a long time to finish the short book because I did a search on the films mentioned, found many if not most, and ended up watching the.

Beautiful art, entertaining content— many of the designers and directors talked about were artistic geniuses who created works worth watching 70 years later.
