Can't say I'll be knitting any of these sweaters soon, but it was fun to loook through these old patterns.
I do appreciate the fact that modern patterns give a LOT more information. These are missing gauge, changes for other sizes, information on measurements... Yes, I could knit from it if I wanted, but having spent a lot of time both adjusting patterns up or down from the sizes given and/or for yarns that give a different gauge, I really prefer it when someone else has done the maths for me.
This 1964 how-to book contains information about: (1) wiring principles and planning, (2) electric service and grounding installation, (3) adding new circuits, (4) adding additional outlets in old homes, (5) new wiring in room additions, (6) connecting switches, receptacles, fixtures and appliances, (7) gathering tools needed for installation, (8) explaining electrical terms, (9) making electrical repairs, and (10) installing outdoor wiring and lighting.

This is one of the first books I show more bought when we moved into an old house in 1966. There were only four main circuits in the house with screw-base fuses, one of which had a penny in it. The other three fuses were 20 and 30 amp fuses in a box rated for 15 amp circuits. For safety's sake, I did what I could to lower and balance the load on this antique fuse panel.

We eventually persuaded the landlord to split the old circuits and install a larger 100-amp cartridge-fuse panel. This was finally replaced with a 200-amp circuit-breaker panel and new wiring. This book saw me through all of the changes and upgrades.

Found in MHS Library in bad shape. Had professionally rebound and the original front and back color covers were bound inside. Great source of illustrations, descriptions, and prices for comparison and historical study.
One of my all-time favorite books to thumb through. Really not much else I can say, except to register my disappointment that the new edition (from Skyhorse Publishing) doesn't include the wonderfully droll S.J. Perelman introduction from the Chelsea House version.
