Twenty-eight-year-old heroine Christy Chambers’s brother Matt disappears in the Sahara Desert. Christy is determined to find him so she flies to Morocco. She asks a man (thirty-six-year-old hero Hassan Ben Kadiri) to help put together a caravan for her, and after some disagreements and problems, he eventually goes in search of her brother with her. Along the way they encounter a sandstorm which puts their lives at risk. Will Christy ever find out if her brother is still alive?

This was a show more very enjoyable and romantic read with lots of adventure, action, and intrigue. Christy was a good heroine, sweet and strong, and gutsy at times. She would not give up on her brother. Hassan was a fine hero. I also like many of the secondary characters they met along the way.

An entertaining and fun romantic adventure story.

Faith's earliest sheik romance, so far as I can tell. This is significant because she makes numerous factual errors about the setting, language, and Islam. Example: "We think differently than you do. We worship different gods" (17) explains the hero, Rashid Ben Hasir, presenting Allah and God as different deities (while any Muslim would tell you they're not). Another example: Faith has an imam delivering the call to prayer (60), which they don't (muezzins do). She tends not to make such show more basic mistakes in her later work.

This is one of Faith's novels set in Morocco (like her later Desert Song, 1987). Later, Faith began inventing countries: 'Abdu Resaba' in Desert Man, 'Jahan' in Midnight Man (both 1994).
