While the romance in the Magnate's Takeover was, for me, the better romance, the plot in the Tycoon's Secret was better, but they both kept me engaged and reading and I enjoyed them.
The first one by Mary McBride is about a biillionaire who sees a run-down motel near his new shiny hotel and decides to do something about it personally. What he doesn't expect is that he will find love, and he doesn't know if she'll forgive his lies.
It was pretty predictable but I really enjoyed the characters show more and their building relationship.
The Tycoon's Secret wraps up the series. Paige Halliday is a decorator and after receiving a gift from a mysterious benefactor she finds herself attracted to the delivery guy, Sam Balfour, who is a playboy. He finds himself intrigued by her as well but will he love her and leave her?
It was a fun read, the characters sparkled and I liked how the series finished. The party at the end fell a bit flat but overall it was a good pair of stories. show less

Amanda Grenville was tired of being a bird in a gilded cage and agreed to marry Angus McCray to get some independence. However, that didn’t work as planned, she was still virtually a prisoner. So she runs away to meet and marry Angus in Denver. Now there is a bounty and Marcus Quicksilver will take her to her grandmother or Angus, whoever will pay. But, somehow avoiding other bounty hunters and trying to get to Denver is not simple. Pretty good western romance.
I love a good Western and Harlequin has put out some excellent ones. You can add this to the list. Tom Bolt was a great hero. He had been trying to hide from the world and hide from his reputation but he was lured into the job of Sheriff by the promise of a good home. Even though he had led the life of a gunslinger, he had a lot of regrets about it and the author did a pretty good job of explaining his past and how he became what he was. Despite everything he was a caring man and wanted to show more be a good sheriff even though they only wanted him for his reputation.
Zena Briggs was also a great heroine. She was blackmailed into letting Tom stay with her and started out full of anger towards his type. But as she got to know him, she saw what kind of man he was and slowly over time came to love him. There is a funny storyline running through the book with her trying to come up with the perfect name for the dog that adopted Tom. I would say if you like authors like Cheryl St. John or Cheryl Reavis, you'll probably enjoy this one too. show less

Fun read: This is my first book by this author and I was not disapointed. This was a fun story that was highly entertaining. The romance was sweet and the characters loveable.
The supporting characters were wonderful and I liked the small town that was going on.
I thought the suspense could have been worked a little more. It was not that hard to figure out who did what. But there is the element of suspense that adds a little extra spice to the story line.
I do recommend this story for a show more light fun read. show less
