I would consider this book a hidden gem. There's certainly mention of famous mythological creatures, but also more obscure and uncommon monsters- some I didn't even know about. Each monster has a text entry detailing its history. The art is a mixed bag- some illustrations are well done while others are fairly low quality and seem almost insulting to include. I only got it because I wanted some form of bestiary- I never really found the art tips useful or consulted them. It's definitely a show more useful tool in fantasy research and reference material for monsters all around the world. I'm sure you'll learn at least a thing or two from this book.
Fun fact: I got this book for dirt cheap in HS at an expo. Now, I've seen copies of this very book be sold over $100. show less
