Surprisingly this is perfect for cartoon dog art, not for realism of any kind. Normally how to draw books are the complete opposite. Once you get past a few ridiculous pages, the value really shines through.

My star rating for this book reflects how often I've referred to it in my creative efforts. It opens with a section comparing manhwa (Korean style comics) with manga (Japanese). Along with the usual step-by-step drawing guides for standard figures and genres seen in Korean comics, the author also provides tips and techniques for areas to focus on in drawing as well as dos and don'ts for drawing comic panels to create effect and emotion. Even if comics aren't your goal, the book has good show more pointers and examples for general drawing and art. I particularly like the pages on drawing hands. show less
My ability to draw has never been impressive so I assumed this book could give me some desired guidance. I am astonished at how well the information regarding drawing is constructed. Such as, the author begins by showing the shapes and how you assemble diverse ones into a person or animal, for example, understanding the shapes you need for drawing a pig.Tips are also given to you while drawing so as not to miss minute aspects of drawing like a beginner like I would do. Whereas, the book show more contains various assorted drawing activities covering very imaginative exercises. Hereupon, drawing clothing on individuals, finishing the other half of a picture and so much more. Doodletopia is a blast and would be good for anyone of any age if they are interested in learning to draw. My 9-year-old nephew liked it so much he snuck it home in his backpack!

I’m astonished with this book. The instructions are super simple and easy to understand, yet absolutely helpful. There are steps by steps tutorials and a lot of alongside hints that help doodling becomes much easier.

There are a lot of sections in Doodletopia, in which I absolutely adore. I love the Draw Ridiculous Inventions, where I can really expand my creativity. Other sections like Write in Cartoon Calligraphy or Dress Up Your Cartoons are amazing too. The best part is, although giving show more detail instructions of what to draw, Doodletopia still leaves space for imagination and creativity, and I found it wonderful! This is a superb, amazing yet hilarious art book that everyone can enjoy.

*I received this book from Blogging For Books in exchange for an honest review. This in no way affected my opinion on the book.
