If you have even a passing interest in the intricacies of the English language, then this book is for you. The author lists commonly mixed-up word pairs (or groups) and quickly and clearly explains the different, subtle (or not-so-subtle) meanings of each, complete with example sentences. It’s a great book just to have on your reference shelf, and readable enough to read cover to cover, like a novel. Still, it would have been nice if pronunciation guides had been included. This book would show more also be a good resource for studying for standardized verbal tests, such as the SAT. show less

The best thing about this book was that it presented many differing view on a very controversial subject.

A so-so assortment of cat trivia; nothing groundbreaking. Lots of cat names and things named after cats. A few fun tidbits and some nice illustrations and quotations.

An excellent resource to improve one's vocabulary or if you want to sound smarter than you are.
