An insular rococo : architecture, politics and society in Ireland and England, 1710-1770 by Timothy Mowl
Who would have thought that there was so much ravishing plasterwork even in England? This exquisite book makes a strong case for seeing protestant Britain as fully part of the wider culture of catholic Europe, through the dazzling work of those Italian stuccadores, not only in and around Dublin, but also in places like Bristol! It is a real treat.
