About the Author
John Onians is Professor and Director of the World Art Research Programme in the School of World Art Studies at the University of East Anglia and Consultative Chair, Research and Academic Affairs, at the Sterling and Francine Clark Art Institute. He is the author of numerous books and articles on show more art history, including the classic work Bearers of Meaning, and was the founding editor of the journal Art History. He is at present writing A National History of Art, an account of the biological basis of artistic activity worldwide. show less
