The pamphlet appears to be a spoiler issued by a publisher, registering a copyright on the title of a book intended to be published, thereby preventing a rival publishing a book by 'coincidence' with the same title and stealing its thunder. The intended book was published in 1884 as 'John Bull’s Womankind (Les filles de John Bull)', by Max O'Rell (pseudonym).
