Discussing Reiki as having solid buddhist backgrounding was relatively new in 2004 when the book came out. Vennells has pretty solid teachings about each of the advanced levels symbols and offered good alternative and deepening practices, meditations, visualizations at the time. There may be others who've moved beyond this at this time (2025) but the material still holds and is strong enough - despite good discussions of symbols in general and rhe reiki symbols specifically, he doesn't show more actually publish the traditional symbols. he does offer one of his own. show less
a book that does not go beyond level I - some nascent discussion (for 1999) of traditional japanese reiki. Good discussion of practise and treatment - nice section on buddhism and buddhist meditation and contemplation of reiki within a buddhist context. Some good personal stories from others and from the author and his path to reiki
