I have no words. This ripped my heart out and put it in a blender. I only give this 5 stars because it made me feel almost every emotion and I am pretty sure my eyes will be swollen in the morning from crying so much.
I loved Asher, Kate and Beau. But the ending is not even close to what I wanted. The complete opposite actually. If I was to rate this based on the last 40% or so of this book, then it wouldn't be high. But only because it hurt to fucking much. The end was a end that just show more leaves me a little upset. I don't care that Kate is happy, I care that I feel like it's not the right person... Why oh why do authors do this to us?Make us fall in love and then take that person away forever?
This book should come with a warning. One guaranteed to break your heart, is what it should say. show less

Hmmm.....let's see
What I liked:
I did like Alex later in the book. I understood her need to live up to what her parents expected (the money is hard to let go of).
I really liked Dane. He was sweet in the beginning when they were just starting to date. And he chased after Alexandra even when she acted like a jerk. He cooked for her, told her his secrets - and took her home to meet mom (even though his brother made that a REALLY difficult situation!)
Jade was cute with her flirting and chasing show more after Tyler. And she did seem to try to be there for Alex when she was spiralling out of control.
But.....
Ultimately, I didn't like Alex. She didn't make sense. First, she doesn't drink - then she gets so drunk she's falling asleep at the bar. Then when she wakes up with hot guy, she grills him about why he didn't take her home, why he didn't call her roommate and THEN she has the nerve to get sarcastic about him making toast. Right there, she seems like the rich uptight spoiled princess I picture her to be.
Then, on page 145 of my copy, she explains " “If I do anything, it’s because I’m sure. I won’t do anything I don’t want to do. I’m just not ready now." WHAT!?!?! She isn't even taking the major she wants to take? She just...she didn't make sense. She was all over the place and I just couldn't get behind her character (because I didn't believe her).
And I'm not a fan of underage drinking. She's 19. And she's drinking all the time. I don't think it added anything to the story. I think it would have been just as good to have left it out. It didn't make her character more belieavble to have her drunk all the time. show less

Memorable. Remarkable. Amazzingggg plot.
The writing style was also good, but ig with how intricate and complex (in a good way) the plot was, there was little space left for the feels, and that's what ends up being my motivation for striking off a star

Giving this a solid three stars--I just liked it. It definitely gave me the feels a couple of times, but I didn't find it to be a very satisfying romance: There's a love triangle, which I don't normally have a problem with, but add in rape, death via drunk driver, cancer, and more death, and it was just too much angst without development or resolution for my HEA tastes. I guess I just found it to be too realistic and serious for the mood I was in. Shout out for U of Iowa though--go Hawks!
