Well, 2 things first off:
1, this book is not written by William T Riker. According to the internet not at all, and in present day Frakes apparently hates it.
2, this book is obviously a set up for a series that never came, and this is now just a standalone book.
So, keeping those things in mind-- This is an okay book. The real author, Dean Wesley Smith, is a long time for-hire series writer with lots of Star Trek books to his name, I'm sure the reason he got this gig.
I couldn't ever show more recommend this book, but I don't regret reading it. It's more of a SciFi TV movie novelization than an actual novel. The pace is quick, which makes for an easy read, but almost too quick, as we are kind of just whisked along with the characters to a conclusion. And, the aliens are almost not seen at all. A first contact book with well thought out aliens, this is NOT. The aliens are actually not described AT ALL beyond physical appearance. They are simply the device of the "alien invasion", which I will admit is at least thought out a bit.
I probably actually give this 2 stars, but I was pleasantly surprised that the book did have a fair amount of story arc and closure at least for the book's characters and plot if not for the alien invasion as a whole, and was mostly satisfying as a stand alone book, instead of some "to be continued..." for a followup series that never happened. So, I gave it a bump for that. show less

A black ops program has developed a watch that causes a person to exist in "hypertime" where they move faster than the world around them. Zak finds the watch and as most teenagers do, uses it to impress a girl. The black ops folks want the watch back and send henchmen to get.
A fun little run down memory lane. I enjoyed the movie when it came out and it brought back memories of different time.

The Next Generation isn't my show or crew. That would be the Original Series with Kirk and Spock and company. So it was a bit of a wrench when the transition was made with Generations: especially since it was awful. I liked this outing with the crew of the Enterprise-D a lot though. Not as much as say, Wrath of Khan but as much as, for instance, The Voyage Home or The Search for Spock, and that easily puts it among my favorite Trek films. It has its share of detractors. There's a hilarious show more 4-part takedown of it on YouTube by the man who shredded Revenge of the Sith. Yes, there be plotholes bigger than a Borg cube, and I too winced when Picard mowed down his own crew taken over by the Borg. But then there's Lily! That scene with her "you broke your toys" is classic. And I was entertained :-) show less
How to describe this series? A Robin Hood caper drama? It takes an honest man to run the best crime team ever. Nate Ford assembles a team of notorious criminals to offer "leverage" to folks who have been cheated or hurt by the rich and powerful. Robin Hood at his best.
Full of action, comedy and great insights into how to pull off a heist, this was a terrific series. The characters are complicated, they grow, they develop as a team. The writing on this series was phenomenal. I love it, can show more you tell? show less
