I'm not sure if this 50 year old book is still in print. I found it laying around the house - likely from my husband's ex wife and decided to give it a go. Not many of the hints in the book apply to today's kitchen - with self-cleaning ovens and frost free freezers, but I did find the hints pretty entertaining. The frugality of people living then was far beyond the waste we see now. It went so far as to recommend sewing together old newspapers to make kitchen garbage bags. Cleaning windows show more with kerosene to avoid streaks isn't a regular practice today either. It is amazing how times have changed! show less
I'm going through this at odd times, and enjoying all the hints to make kitchen and household chores easier that we don't have to do anymore, because appliances and materials and cleaning products have improved.

Just as the cover blurbs say, this book contains hundreds of housekeeping hints, moneysavers, and solutions to problems. While the cover says it is "a special blessing for every mother, housewife and homemaker," today must agree that bachelors and involved husbands will find useful hints along with the women who do much of the housework.
The most helpful book to have in the kitchen! Many green ways to clean!
