"Middle and Leg" is a collection of cricket stories, some of whom are unique to the book while others a reprints from various other publications. It's for a good cause, as all profits went to charities to deal with children with disabilities, so one can't be too critical.

I couldn't seem to get much out of the book; there are pieces on Arthur Mailey and George Giffen which were interesting anough but then there is yet another article on "Yabba", the supposed wit of the SCG. I've read numerous show more stories on Yabba but yet to find a line of his funny. And then there is the requisite article by miserable old former cricketer saying that the game isn't as good as it used to be. For this book, it is Hunter "Stork" Hendry who complains that it's all gone down hill from his day and he does a fine job depressing the reader. show less
One of the first books I bought when I started earning an income from a holiday job. All sorts of interesting tidbits about cricket. I hope to pass it on to my cricket-mad son.
This is mostly an instructional book written by past and present stars of VFL football, with a few exceptions, such as SANFL star Neil Kerley. Mainly covers skills, tactics, fitness, temperament and positional play with additional sections describing the history of the game, injuries and superstitions. Of special interest are the selections of the greatest players by Norm and Len Smith. Well-illustrated with many famous pictures. First edition published in 1964.
This is the second printing of Pollard's 'One for the Road' (1966). It is a compendium of short stories from 20 authors.
