Thank you for this lovely introduction to starting a meditation group. I just started a new group at my church, wanting to share my experience with others and reinvigorate my own practice. So far I have lead two sessions, and I found I was stumbling over self-consciousness and uncertainty on how to lead a group, being only an intermediate meditator myself. I'm glad I found the World Centre for Christian Meditation website (wccm.org) which directed me to this book. A Pearl of Great Price is show more just the right length and has given me confidence and encouragement, and some very helpful guidance. Also appreciated is the rich resource list at the back. Merci! I look forward to putting my new tools, relationships and resources into practice. show less
While I would not be in sympathy with all of the viewpoints expressed in this book, it offers some profound meditations on the meaning of Jesus that are worth reflecting on.
An excellent introduction to Christian meditation by Fr Laurence Freeman, a Benedictine monk and director of the World Community for Christian Meditation. If you are from a different spiritual tradition e.g. Buddhist and want to find out about meditation within a Christian context, this is a great place to start.
