Absolutely loved A Gentleman’s Reckoning! This Bachelors of Blackstone’s series is quickly becoming a favorite with the eccentric Lord Blackstone as a delightful fixture in each standalone story. In this heartfelt Regency, there’s a rake in need of redemption, love at first sight, hidden identity, opposites attract, & revenge versus forgiveness. I thoroughly enjoyed John’s & Geny’s swoon worthy, unique romance that kept me eagerly reading.

Once a charming London rake, John Aubin show more finds himself an outcast in Society when he overhears Lord Goodwin’s shady business dealings & attempts to expose him. It unfortunately backfires & he’s suddenly ousted from his clubs & becomes a social pariah. Seeking revenge, he takes a position under an assumed name at Goodwin’s orphan asylum to unearth fraudulent dealings & clear his name. The only flaw in his plan is Goodwin’s lovely daughter whose goodness & love for the orphans immediately endears John to her.

Lady Geny didn’t believe in love at first sight until she met John. Despite their disparity in stations, she’s drawn to him & sees his admirable qualities. As their romance blooms, John’s troubled by his deceit & desire to see her father ruined. When John’s true identity is finally revealed, will Geny be able to forgive him?

John’s transformation was truly inspirational. As he works with the orphans & is influenced by Geny & Lord Blackstone’s Club, he sees his own follies & becomes a better person. I loved seeing his path to redemption & reconnection with his brother & those he wronged. The chemistry between him & Geny crackles with romantic tension. I enjoyed how they were so drawn to each other & Geny’s boldness in pursuing her happily ever after.

Lord Blackstone is the unsung hero in all of these stories. The club he’s created is a refuge for men who’ve been rejected by Society & need a second chance. But, the caveat is their misdeeds must not be insurmountable, or they are innocently accused by Society. I love the way these men support & help each other as they find love & second chances. I can’t wait to read all of their stories.

Highly recommend! I received an advanced complimentary copy from the author but also purchased through Kindle Unlimited. All opinions are my own & voluntarily provided.

Shy girls rejoice! A Secret Infatuation is such a delightful Regency romance featuring a painfully shy heroine & a sympathetic, protective MMC. Jennie Goutet brings all the wit, charm, & slow burn romance to this engaging story which had me quickly turning the pages & sighing with satisfaction.

At the tender age of sixteen, Lady Sophia Rowlandson becomes infatuated with Mr. Felix Harwood after their first meeting when he rescues her from an embarrassing situation. Four years later, she’s show more hoping to renew her acquaintance with him, but Mr. Harwood seems to be interested in her best friend Marie. Her loyalty to her friend & shyness prevent her from saying anything to Mr. Harwood, but each time she’s with him, she’s ever aware of his presence & longs to know if he might return her regard.

Mr. Felix Harwood returns to England weary from battle hoping for a bright future ahead & an ability to help the widows & orphans of the men he fought beside. Born a humble vicar’s son, with the help of a patron, he gained an education & later secured a position in the Admiralty & a seat in the House of Commons. Curious about Lady Sophia, he’s determined to learn more about her even though she’s far above his station. But, when Robert Cunningworth, Lady’s Sophia’s neighbor & his patron’s son, shows a strong desire to court her, will Felix have the courage to court her himself?

Sophia’s & Felix’s romance was full of surprises as the road to true love is never smooth. I loved having both their points of view & seeing their admiration for each other grow. I loved the scrapbook of mementos Sophia kept & her devotion to Felix. Sophia may be shy, but she’s strong & willing to go outside her comfort zone to champion those she loves & cares for. I loved the masquerade ball at Vauxhall, the picnic, & Felix’s race with Evo. I enjoyed seeing their character growth. I also loved getting to know Marie, Felix’s sister, & Sophia’s siblings. There’s a bit of trouble stirred up at the end & I loved how they work to overcome the odds against them.

Highly recommend this charming, heartwarming Regency romance! I received an advanced copy from the author with no expectation of a positive review. All opinions are completely my own & provided voluntarily.

Regency romantic suspense?! I am here for it! Jennie Goutet is a must read author for me and this book may be one of my absolute favorites. If you love protective heroes and despicable villains you love to hate, you’ll enjoy this book!

Arabella Northwick has constantly lived under the thumb of others. From her uncaring father & husband to now a tyrannical brother-in-law, widowed Arabella is forced to capitulate to his demands if she wants to remain with her little son. When circumstances show more become unbearable & fearing for her son’s life, she flees with David & runs to the one man she can trust.

Theo Dawson has been enamored with Arabella since he first met her. Wanting to court her, his hopes are dashed when he realizes the controlling George Northwick would never allow anything between them. He returns to his mill in Newark & the unfulfilling work he never wanted. When Arabella shows up on his doorstep needing his help, he does everything in his power to protect her & find a way to free her from her brother-in-law’s clutches.

I loved Arabella & Theo. They and little David make such an adorable family. Arabella is such a sympathetic character. She was put in such an untenable situation. Her willingness to do anything to protect her son was so admirable & my heart ached for her. I loved watching her grow more assertive especially with Theo’s love & support. I also loved how Theo’s sister & her friends in Lincolnshire rallied around her.

Theo’s love & protectiveness of Arabella & David made him such a swoony hero. I loved his quiet gentleness, but also his fierce defense of Arabella. Their first kiss was amazing.

There are some intense, suspenseful situations that had me on the edge of my seat. The last 3rd of the book was one twist after another. George is definitely abusive & manipulative & you just keep hoping he’ll get his due.

Highly recommend this clean, romantic, suspenseful Regency! Though part of a series, it can be read as a standalone, however, readers familiar with the 1st book will enjoy seeing friendships rekindled & strengthened. I received an advanced complimentary copy from the author. All opinions are my own & voluntarily given.

This is a very entertaining Georgian romance, set in the health resort town of Spa in the Austrian Netherlands (now Belgium). It is a second chance romance, and while it follows the conventions of that type of story closely, it is done with very winning characters, and a gentle feel that is quite reminiscent of Jane Austen's "Persuasion". The period details are well-researched and very interesting to a history buff such as myself. Our heroine, Amy, gets her happily ever after, but her family show more will continue on their European tour in subsequent books, so I look forward to learning the fates of her sisters Hannah and Marianne.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher in exchange for an honest opinion. The views expressed are entirely my own.
