I picked this book up at a used bookstore for like a dollar, and I really wasn't that hopeful that it would be very good. I figured that it would be hokey and so bad that it would be hilarious. For a dollar, who cares.
Boy, was I surprised. I actually really enjoyed this book. The emotional depth that it reached far surpassed my expectations. Mance and Jonella are so sweet, and the ups and downs in their relationship truly pulled at my heart strings. I was rooting for them to find the show more strength to pull their love through throughout the entire novel.
Not only were the main characters compelling, but Gresham populated his novel with an entire cast of sympathetic, eccentric people.
All in all, this was a good read. show less
