This book approaches criticism of humanism not from a religious perspective, but from a non-religious one, showing that humanism has a lot to do to make itself a viable, complete philosophy. Interesting thesis and easy writing style.
The author is well organized in showing the reader the critical factors influencing both species and natural communities. He goes through the interdependency of both of these on such things as water quality and climate, and competition from invasive species, and land use change by humans.
