A great, dense, visual overview of WW2 in the Pacific, complete with many illustrations and pictures. This is a short, 'coffee table' type book, not a reference of comprehensive history, but I love the pictures of ships and planes, other weapons and maps and illustrations. Great stuff. Originally purchased at the Smithsonian history museum for $2.50.
a compilation of articles and illustrations drawn from a previously published part-work about the history of the first world war. The colour illustrations are generally of a high standard, although supporting monochrome photographs are quite poor. The text, as is usual from the Purnell’s History source, comprises several articles on different aspects of WWI aviation each by pretty decent historian contributors, and is consequently excellent, if rather short. An enjoyable snapshot of WWI show more aviation. show less
