- Short biography
- Linda Madl's work includes eighteen novels and novellas as well as short stories, and nonfiction articles. Besides a good story, she relishes peanut M&Ms, classical music, and a good bookstore or library. For writing Speak of Love, she visited the Isle of Skye off the western coast of Scotland where she marveled at the castle's sea gate and learned about kelpies, the fairy flag, mermaids, feuds, and generally soaked up the beauty of the place. She resides with her husband, dog and parakeet in the Kansas Flint Hills. Family, friends, and travel fill her non-writing hours. fictionwise

I was pleasantly surprised by this historical romance. Despite it being incredibly formulaic with the familiar tropes of 1. heroine on the run, 2. numerous misunderstandings between hero and heroine, 3. hero rescues heroine from the bad guy, and 4. they can't keep their hands off each other, even though they're not sure they even like/trust each other.
Our hero and heroine, Neilly and Damon were just so likable! I really rooted for them to just tell each other the truth and fall in love show more already! Also, great characterization on the supporting characters; more than one couple finds love in this book. The villains were menacing without being caricatures, and even though I figured out the 'culprit' quite soon into the book, I was satisfied with the suspenseful climactic revelation. Recommended for all romance fans. show less

awful. terrible. I don't know why I finished it. he pretty much forces her, and it's OK because she loves him.
