Fascinating. Best source of information on Egyptian gods that I've found so far, but it seems like Richard H. Wilkinson has an awful lot to say about a civilzation which is mostly unknown.
Reading Egyptian art : a hieroglyphic guide to ancient Egyptian painting and sculpture by Richard H. Wilkinson
A fascinating and useful resource showing how the line blurs between ancient Egyptian text and representational art. It's organised by hieroglyphic sign, with each section being devoted to one (the heart-jar, for example) that was widely employed in art. Each section consists of a discussion and several examples of the hieroglyphic's use. Well-written and very useful to those interested in Egyptian art and iconography.
The Complete Valley of the Kings: Tombs and Treasures of Egypt's Greatest Pharaohs (Complete) by C. N. Reeves
Everyone knows a little something about the amazing discovery of Tutankhamun's tomb, but if you want to know about all the other, less spectacular perhaps, but equally interesting tombs, this is the book for you. Every bit as good as The Complete Tutankhamun which preceded it, with original illustrations, photos, maps, and charts that illuminate and fascinate.
Excellent scholarly resource with many pictures, plans, and reproduced engravings discussed at length to show development of the various kinds of temple complexes over time and cultural changes.
